About Buddha Tooth Relic Temple

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum (BTRTM) was founded in 2002 by Venerable Shi Fazhao. The Temple is dedicated to the Maitreya Buddha, which means 'The Compassionate One,' and is also called 'The Future Buddha.'

It is carrying on the mission of offering a "Discovering Buddhism' program. 'Discovering Buddhism' is a specially designed program for participants to gain an experiential taste of Chinese Mahayana Buddhist etiquette, Basic Buddhist teachings, and Basic Meditation.

BTRTM officially opened by Singapore s former President S. R. Nathan on Vesak Day 31 May 2007. It can be found at 288 South Bridge Road in Chinatown, Kreta Ayer District. It is considered the golden age of Chinese culture, arts and architecture during the Tang Dynasty.

BTRTM was designed by local and international consultants. It boldly combined architectural styles from both Tang Dynasty as well as Buddhist Mandala. BTRTM was made possible by generous donors and devotees, including Singaporeans as well as overseas Buddhists. Their generosity and support is greatly appreciated.
