About Lau Pa Sat

Lau Pa Sat, also known as Telok Ayer Market, was built in the 19th century and has long dominated the local landscape with its striking presence. It was gazetted as a national monument in 1973.
After several restorations concluded in June 2014, what you see is still in MacRitchie’s original vision line. The market has long been changed into a hawker center offering the best local cuisine. Enjoy a plate of Hainanese chicken rice and an ice-cold beer as you feast in the elegant old-world charm of Singapore’s loveliest food court.

The Lau Pa Sat Food Directory is a delicious destination for taste and more. You will be amazed at the variety of delicious foods available in this historic building, from traditional Singaporean cuisines to international favorites.

Food not good, and the pricing not cheap as normal food court too. Most important is the stall owners & workers there not friendly at all, considered very rude actually! For me better go try other local food court instead of this! If you re tourist...like me, not recommended at all.

We had a great time checking out the Singapore Hawker experience. This is a large market in an old historic building. We went at about 20.00 and it was busy, noisy and chaotic with a huge choice of food which added to the whole experience,...The food was excellent and great value. I thoroughly recommend trying out this place.

La Pau Sat is an institution in Singapore. There are very many Hawker shops and restaurants inside. But this was outside beside La Pau Sat and on a nice evening the beer and satays just fit the bill.

It s hard to choose which Hawker Fare to to go in Singapore, and once you get there it s hard to decide what to order! I kept looking at other people s food and wondering what they were eating, and wanted what they had! Take cash ...take wipes (for some reason everyone was stingy with napkins), and enjoy. If you go early, wait long enough for Sata... see more

Wanted to experience food in one of the famous hawker markets in Singapore. Was recommended Lau Pa Sat by a friend. Ordered some dim sums, dumplings, chicken rice, beers, sugarcane juice and tea. We reached the place around 3pm in the afternoon, so absolutely no...crowd, we almost had the entire market to ourselves!

As a multi generational group of 9, we visited Lau Pa Sat. Having read some reviews and commentary, we had something of an idea of how to navigate the venue. We arrived at 630pm and quickly secured 2 adjacent tables. Beer was quickly bought, and...a bottle of wine was bought from the 7 Eleven across the street. There is little in the way of guide... see more

Visually this was the most beautiful market we have seen in Singapore. Love the Victorian style structures and the fact that this low rise building is surrounded by tall modern skyscrapers The food is perhaps not as cheap as in other (more local )...Hawker Centres and yes lots of tourists come here but netherless we loved the atmosphere here... see more
