War Memorial Park

War Memorial Park is the first memorial in Singapore dedicated to the civilian victims of the Japanese Occupation during 1942 – 1945. Standing at an almost 70-meters high monument, it reminds the shared suffering of the various ethnic communities in Singapore.

Every year of 15th February, the anniversary of the Fall of Singapore, an inter-religious memorial service is held at the memorial. It has been a designated day as a Total Defence Day. Religious leaders offer their prayers during a ceremony in the presence of dignitaries and public members.
