About Long Phung - Vietnamese Cuisine

Long Phung Vietnamese Restaurant, a Joo Chiat Road favorite since 2009, offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a casual setting. Expect plastic chairs and veneer tables, but don't let the simplicity fool you – the food is the star here. From flavorful pho to unique dishes, Long Phung delivers a taste of Vietnam that keeps locals coming back for more.

The menu boasts a wide array of Vietnamese delights, from classic pho and rice dishes to more adventurous options. Start with the Pho Dac Biet, a special noodle soup packed with beef balls, beef slices, beef tendons, beef liver, and a poached egg. The complex and flavorful broth, with its pungent taste and hints of star anise, is a true highlight. For a dry noodle option, try the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, a vermicelli dish featuring perfectly grilled pork and crispy deep-fried spring rolls. The pork is seasoned with aromatic herbs and spices like lemongrass, while the spring rolls offer a satisfying crunch and robust flavor.

Don't miss the stir-fried cockles with garlic (So Huyet Xao Toi), plump, fresh, and juicy, served with a tangy tamarind sauce that complements the seafood perfectly. The fried chicken wings (Canh Ga Ohien Nuoc Mam) are another must-try, boasting an earthy and pungent marinade and a succulent, perfectly cooked texture. Cool down with a refreshing Jackfruit Smoothie (Sinh To Mit) to complete your meal.

Long Phung is known for its delicious food and good value, making it a popular dining destination for those seeking an authentic Vietnamese experience without the fuss. Located at 159 Joo Chiat Road, Singapore, it's easily accessible. The restaurant's casual ambiance, characterized by its iconic yellow plastic chairs and a menu displayed on the wall, adds to its charm. While the setting might be simple, the focus is squarely on the food.

Beyond the Pho Dac Biet, consider the classic Pho Nam, a well-done beef noodle soup with a cleaner, more straightforward broth. Tender slices of beef and a comforting broth make this a satisfying choice. The Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, a dry noodle dish with grilled pork and rice noodles, is another interesting option. Mixed together, the ingredients create a refreshing, salad-like flavor.

For sharing, the Cha Gio (Vietnamese spring rolls) are a must. Their crispy texture and flavorful fillings are simply irresistible. Another sharing option is the Banh Xeo 1 Cai, a large, fried pancake that's best enjoyed with your hands. It's undeniably oily but also sinfully addictive.

Question:
Answer:
Is there parking available near Long Phung, or is public transport a better option??
Parking along Joo Chiat Road can be a bit tricky, especially during busy times. Public transport is a great alternative! You can hop on a bus that stops along Joo Chiat Road, or take a short taxi/Grab ride from the nearest MRT station. Less stress, more pho!

Question:
Answer:
Is Long Phung usually packed, and what time is best to visit to avoid the crowds??
Oh, absolutely! Long Phung is super popular, especially during peak hours. To snag a table without the queue, try heading over for a slightly earlier or later lunch/dinner. Think 11:30 AM or 2:00 PM for lunch, or 5:30 PM or 8:30 PM for dinner. Weekdays are generally a bit less crowded than weekends too!

The beef pho was pretty good. But the steamed spring roll was not that great. Try the fried ones. The food is quite pricey.

Nice little Vietnamese 🇻🇳 restaurant along Joo Chiat. Owner is Vietnamese 🇻🇳. The Beef 🥩 noodle soup is rich and delicious. However they must be from South Vietnam as the beef broth is not clear. North Vietnamese beef 🥩 noodle soup is completely clear (like water) but the aroma and rich beefy taste is distinct and flavourful. South Vietnamese... see more

You know a Viet place is going to be good when you see old wooden tables and staffs chattering away in Vietnamese :), only missing is the squat short stools you see only in Vietnam otherwise this place is as authentic as it gets. This is definitely one of the best Vietnamese eatery in Singapore hands down. Had the special pho, broth was flavourful,... see more

Used to come here often and the whole family LOVES the food. Simply hearty tasting broth for the rare beef soup - really hits the spot! My friend had the pork vermicelli, which also was pretty perfect to satisfy our Vietnamese food craving. We had chicken wings and they were fried crispy and packed with flavour and natural juices—just such a tasty... see more

Without any doubt the best Vietnamese food ever in Singapore. Authentic 10/10. Though come early, the queue is madness.

First time here, I tried the PHO. When it was served, the beef looked medium rare, which surprised me. I asked the staff—an uncle—about it. He kindly explained that the hot soup would cook the beef a little more, and that if it was too well-done, it wouldn’t taste as nice. He was right, it turned out delicious. The glass noodles were soft and smoot... see more

We were looking for a Vietnamese place and settled for Long Phung. We tried the appetizer platter which was very authentic and I loved the spicy sotong with onions. I ordered the special beef pho which had a variety of ingredients and the beef was tender and cooked to perfection. Not my usual cuisine but definitely 5 stars for authenticity, taste a... see more
