Science Centre Singapore was established on December 10, 1977, by Toh Chin Chye. In 1969, the Government decided to turn the National Museum into an art and historical museum and create a new institution devoted to scientific and technological education. The Science Center building, composed of the Annexe, Outdoor Gardens, Main Building, Omni-Theatre, and Snow City, was designed by Raymond Woo.
