Toah Dragon Playground was designed by former Housing Development Board (HDB) interior designer Khor Ean Ghee. It was constructed in 1979 as part of a series of animal-themed playgrounds. It is one of Singapore's oldest playgrounds. It was formed on an experimental dragon shaped with modifications from its predecessor to build it simply.
It stands on top of a sand pit and has multicolored steel rings in the dragon's body to let the children climb thru with a slide on its head. Similar playgrounds were demolished due to safety concerns in 1990, but Toa Payoh remained untouched and became Singapore's cultural icon.
Making a difference and keeping people safe.
